Dongchuan District is one of seven districts located within the prefecture-level city of Kunming. It serves as a constituent administrative division of the capital city of Yunnan Province in the People's Republic of China.
The district was officially established on December 6, 1998, following an approval by the State Council to form it from the former Dongchuan City.
