Yanji is a county-level city located in the eastern part of China's Jilin Province. It serves as the seat of the government for the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, functioning as the political, economic, and cultural center for the entire autonomous region.
The city has a population of approximately 400,000 people, with a significant portion of the residents being ethnic Korean. It is a major hub for trade and transportation between China and North Korea. Additionally, Yanji is home to Yanbian University, which is a comprehensive institution and the only Project 211 university located within the city.
