Jiutai is one of the seven districts of Changchun, which serves as the capital of Jilin Province in Northeast China. The district is situated approximately 50 kilometres northeast of downtown Changchun and is surrounded by agricultural areas.
The geographical boundaries of Jiutai are defined by several neighboring regions. It borders Dehui to the north, Erdao District to the southwest, and Kuancheng District to the west. To the south and east, it borders the prefecture-level city of Jilin. In addition to its agricultural surroundings, coal mining is a present industry within the district.
