Zhenjiang, also romanized as Chinkiang, is a prefecture-level city located in the Jiangsu Province of China. It is situated on the southern bank of the Yangtze River near the intersection with the Grand Canal, positioned between the cities of Nanjing and Changzhou and opposite Yangzhou.
Historically, Zhenjiang served as the provincial capital of Jiangsu and continues to function as an important transportation hub for the region. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 3,210,418 inhabitants, with 1,266,790 residing within its three urban districts.
The city is internationally recognized for Chinkiang vinegar. This fragrant black vinegar is considered a staple of Chinese cuisine and is well-known both domestically and abroad.
