Yancheng is a prefecture-level city located in the eastern coastal region of Jiangsu province, China. Formerly known as Yandu, the current city was officially founded on January 18, 1983. It holds the distinction of being the city with the largest jurisdictional area within the Jiangsu province.
The city is situated along the coast and shares borders with several neighboring regions. To its north lies Lianyungang, while Huai'an is located to the west. Yancheng also borders Yangzhou and Taizhou to the southwest, Nantong to the south, and faces the Yellow Sea to the east.
