Shuofang was an ancient Chinese commandery located in the Hetao region of modern-day Inner Mongolia, situated near the city of Baotou. It was originally established by Emperor Wu of Han following his successful reconquest of the territory from the Xiongnu tribes.
The administrative status of Shuofang shifted over several centuries; it was first dissolved during the late Eastern Han dynasty. It was later reconstituted during the Northern Wei and Sui periods before reaching its final dissolution during the Tang dynasty.
