Nantong is a prefecture-level city located in southeastern Jiangsu province, China. It is situated on the northern bank of the Yangtze River near the river mouth, bordering the East China Sea to the east.
The city serves as a vital river port and shares borders with Yancheng to the north, Taizhou to the west, and Suzhou, Wuxi, and Shanghai across the river to the south. As of the 2020 census, Nantong had a population of 7,726,635, with 3,766,534 residents living within its three urban districts.
