Luoyang is a prefecture-level city located in the western part of Henan province, China. It is situated in the confluence area of the Luo River and the Yellow River. The city borders several other regions, including Zhengzhou to the east, Pingdingshan to the southeast, Nanyang to the south, Sanmenxia to the west, Jiyuan to the north, and Jiaozuo to the northeast.
As of 2022, Luoyang Municipality has jurisdiction over seven municipal districts, seven counties, and one development zone. The city's permanent population was recorded at approximately 7.079 million in 2022, with a significant portion of its inhabitants residing within the built-up area formed by five of its six urban districts and the conurbated Yanshi District.
