Jiangyin is a county-level city located on the southern bank of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu province, China. It is administered by the prefecture-level city of Wuxi and serves as an important transport hub along the river. The city is recognized as one of the most developed counties in the country.
According to the 2010 census, Jiangyin had a population of 1,595,138 inhabitants. It is also a component of the larger Jiangyin-Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang metropolitan area, which has a total population of 3,526,260.
