Dongtai is a coastal county-level city located in Jiangsu province, China. It operates under the administration of Yancheng and serves as the southernmost county-level division within that prefecture. The city is bordered by the cities of Nantong to the south and Taizhou to the west.
The city features a coastline along the Yellow Sea. As of 2007, Dongtai had an estimated population of approximately 1,170,000 people. Of this total population, roughly 260,000 residents live within the urban core, while the remainder are distributed across 23 suburban towns and rural regions.
