Xiangtang is a town located in China's Jiangxi province, situated south of the provincial capital, Nanchang. It falls under the administration of Nanchang County and serves as the most populous town in the province, with a population exceeding 150,000 as of the 2010 census.
The town originated from a village established during the Qing Dynasty, which remains near the current town center. The area experienced significant growth following the completion of the main section of the Zhejiang–Jiangxi Railway in 1935. Today, Xiangtang is a major transportation hub, housing Xiangtang West Station, the second largest freight yard in China, and Xiangtang Station, a level-1 passenger station. It was also the site of Nanchang Xiangtang Airport, which served as the city's primary civil airport until 1999.
