Nanchang is the capital city of Jiangxi Province, located in the north-central part of the province in China. It is situated within the hinterland of the Poyang Lake Plain and is geographically bounded by the Jiuling Mountains to the west and Poyang Lake to the east.
Due to its strategic location connecting East and South China, Nanchang has developed into a major railway hub in Southern China over recent decades.
