Huanggang is a prefecture-level city located in the easternmost region of Hubei Province, China. The city is situated to the north of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and derives its name from Mount Huanggang.
The geographical boundaries of Huanggang are defined by several neighboring regions and natural landmarks. It is bounded to the north by the Dabie Mountains and shares borders with Henan Province to the north, Anhui Province to the east, and Jiangxi Province to the south.
