The Hongmen, formerly known as the Tiandihui, is a Chinese fraternal organization and historical folk religious sect. It originated as a secretive group in the vein of the Ming loyalist and anti-Qing White Lotus Society, which served as the Tiandihui's ancestral organization.
As the Tiandihui expanded across various provinces and counties in China, it branched into numerous groups known by different names, such as the Sanhehui. Today, the term Hongmen is largely synonymous with the broader Tiandihui concept, though the title is also claimed by certain criminal organizations. The current iteration of the group is purely secular.
