Bashan is an ancient region historically identified in biblical texts as being located in the northernmost territory of Transjordan during the Iron Age. While it shares a name with various locations, this specific historical entity is situated in what is now modern-day Jordan and Syria.
The western portion of Bashan corresponds to the area currently known as the Golan Heights. This region was occupied by Israel following the 1967 Six Day War and remains under Israeli occupation today.
