Yandang

China

The Yandang Mountains, also known as Yandangshan, are a coastal mountain range located in southeastern Zhejiang province in eastern China. The range covers a significant portion of the prefecture-level city of Wenzhou and extends into the county-level city of Wenling within the Taizhou prefecture.

The mountain range is geographically divided into two sections by the Oujiang River, categorized as North Yandang and South Yandang. While the term can refer to the entire range, it is also used more narrowly to describe Mount Yandang. This specific site is located within an ancient caldera near a small town of the same name in the North Yandang region.

Mount Yandang serves as the primary tourist destination for the area and contains the highest peaks of the North Yandang section. The distinction between the broader mountain range and the specific caldera at Mount Yandang is maintained to differentiate between the general geography and the main landmark.
