Shaoxing is a prefecture-level city located on the southern shore of Hangzhou Bay in northeastern Zhejiang province, China. It is situated on the south bank of the Qiantang River estuary and shares borders with Ningbo to the east, Taizhou to the southeast, Jinhua to the southwest, and Hangzhou to the west.
According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 5,270,977 inhabitants. This includes 2,958,643 residents living within the built-up area of Hangzhou–Shaoxing, which has a combined total population of 13,035,326.
