Chaohu is a county-level city located in Anhui Province, China. It serves as the easternmost county-level division under the administration of Hefei, which is the provincial capital.
The city is situated on the northeast and southeast shores of Lake Chao. Its name is derived directly from this lake. Chaohu functions as a significant administrative component within the larger prefecture-level city of Hefei.
