Bafoussam is the capital and largest city of the West Region of Cameroon. Situated in the Bamboutos Mountains, it ranks as the third most financially important city in the country, following Yaoundé and Douala.
The administrative area known as the communauté urbaine of Bafoussam is a decentralized territorial collectivity. It was established by Presidential Decree N ° 2008/022 on January 17, 2008, and is composed of three distinct communes: Bafoussam I, Bafoussam II (Baleng), and Bafoussam III (Bamougoum).
