Bamenda, also referred to as Abakwa or Mankon Town, is a city located in northwestern Cameroon. It serves as the capital of the Northwest Region and is situated approximately 366 km (227 mi) northwest of the national capital, Yaoundé.
The city has a population of about six hundred thousand people. It is characterized by its scenic hilly location and is notably known for its cool climate.
