Zarzal is a city and municipality located in the northern part of the department of Valle del Cauca in Colombia. It serves as a regional hub with a population of approximately 42,000 residents.
The local economy is primarily driven by the extensive cultivation of sugar cane, along with utilities and small to medium-sized enterprises within the metallurgic sector. Commerce is also a significant component of the economy, supported by numerous warehouses for basic necessity goods and a marketplace that serves as a reference point for neighboring cities.
Due to recent urban development, new city districts have been constructed in the center of Zarzal. This growth has resulted in a scarcity of available bare land within the city limits.
