Pozo Almonte

Pozo Almonte is a city and commune located in the interior of Chile's Atacama Desert. It serves as the capital of Tamarugal Province, a designation established in 2007. The city is situated approximately 52 km (32 mi) from Iquique, which is the capital of the Tarapacá Region.

The commune covers an area of 13,766 km² (8,554 mi²) and has a population exceeding 15,000 inhabitants. It shares borders with several other communes, including Iquique, Alto Hospicio, Huara, Pica, María Elena, and Tocopilla.
