Alto Hospicio is a municipality and commune located in the Tarapacá Region of Chile. It is situated adjacent to the city of Iquique within the Iquique Province.
The area is characterized as a fast-growing popular district located in the heights of Iquique. According to preliminary results from the 2012 census, Alto Hospicio had a population of 94,254 residents. It serves as the second largest commune within the Greater Iquique urbanization, which reached a total population of 275,000 in 2012.
