Los Vilos

Los Vilos is a coastal city and commune in Chile, situated within the Province of Choapa in the IV Region of Coquimbo. It has a population of over 9,000 inhabitants and is located approximately 246 kilometres from both La Serena and Santiago.

The city serves as an important industrial and commercial hub, featuring the harbour of Puerto Punta Chungo. This port handles materials from the Los Pelambres mine, accounting for 1.1% of Chile's annual external trade tonnage as of 2024. Fishing is a primary economic activity in the area.

In addition to its industrial significance, Los Vilos is a destination for tourism, primarily due to its two beaches: La Principal and Las Conchas.
