Mulchén is a city and commune located in the Bío Bío Province within the Bío Bío Region of Chile. It serves as a local administrative center for its surrounding area.
The settlement originated in 1871 when soldiers arrived during the period known as the Pacification of Araucania. Mulchén was subsequently and officially founded in 1875.
