Grand-Bassam is a town located in southeastern Ivory Coast, situated to the east of Abidjan. It serves as a commune and functions as the seat of the Grand-Bassam Department, within which it is also a sub-prefecture.
The town holds historical significance as the brief capital of French Ivory Coast during the late 19th century. In 2012, its historic center was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its outstanding examples of colonial architecture and town planning, as well as the unique juxtaposition between the colonial town and a traditional Nzema village.
