Neuchâtel is a town, municipality, and the capital of the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel. It is situated on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland. The city's name translates to "New Castle" in both French and German, where it has historically been referred to by the German name Neuenburg.
Following a 2021 fusion involving the municipalities of Neuchâtel, Corcelles-Cormondrèche, Peseux, and Valangin, the city now has an approximate population of 45,000 inhabitants.
