Kolwezi, also known as Kolwesi, is the capital city of Lualaba Province in the southern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is situated to the west of Likasi and serves as a significant urban center with a population of approximately 573,000 residents.
The city is connected to the surrounding region via an airport and a railway line that links it to Lubumbashi. Additionally, the static inverter plant of the HVDC Inga-Shaba is located just outside of Kolwezi.
