Bukavu

Democratic Republic of the Congo

Bukavu is a city located in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It serves as the capital of the South Kivu Province.

The city is situated at the extreme south-western edge of Lake Kivu, positioned west of Cyangugu in Rwanda. It is separated from the Rwandan border by the outlet of the Ruzizi River. As of 2012, Bukavu had an estimated population of 806,940.
