Mbanza-Ngungu

Mbanza-Ngungu is a large town located in the Kongo Central Province in the western region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It serves as the administrative center for the Mbanza-Ngungu Territory and has a population of nearly 100,000 people.

The town is situated on a short branch of the Matadi-Kinshasa Railway. Historically, it was known by the names Thysville or Thysstad, which were named in honor of Albert Thys.
