Abbottsfield is a residential neighbourhood situated in east Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The area is geographically characterized by its position overlooking the North Saskatchewan River valley.
The neighbourhood takes its name from Abraham Abbott, who was a resident of the Town of Beverly and served as a long-time school custodian in the Beverly School District. Although development in Abbottsfield did not commence until nearly a decade after the 1961 amalgamation of Beverly with Edmonton, the area remains closely associated with the history of Beverly.
Historically, Beverly was known as a coal mining town. One of its major coal mines was located specifically within the Abbottsfield area.
