Iqaluit is the capital of the Canadian territory of Nunavut. It serves as the territory's largest community and its only city, while also holding the distinction of being the northernmost city in Canada.
The city is situated on a large bay on the coast. From 1942 to 1987, it was known as Frobisher Bay, but its traditional Inuktitut name was restored in 1987.
