Trois-Rivières is a city located in the Mauricie administrative region of Quebec, Canada. It is situated at the confluence of the Saint-Maurice and Saint Lawrence rivers on the north shore of the latter, directly across from the city of Bécancour. The city sits approximately halfway between Montreal and Quebec City as part of the densely populated Quebec City–Windsor Corridor.
Established by French colonists on July 4, 1634, Trois-Rivières serves as the second permanent settlement in New France following the founding of Quebec City in 1608. Today, it functions as the primary economic and cultural hub for the Mauricie region.
