Gatineau is a city located in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It sits on the northern bank of the Ottawa River, positioned directly across from the city of Ottawa, Ontario. The city serves as the largest urban center within the Outaouais administrative region and is an integral part of Canada's National Capital Region.

As of 2021, Gatineau had a population of 291,041, making it the fourth-largest city in the province of Quebec. It is also a primary component of the Ottawa-Gatineau census metropolitan area, which has a total population of 1,488,307 and ranks as the fourth largest metropolitan area in Canada.
