Mississauga is a city located in the province of Ontario, Canada. It is situated on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario within the Regional Municipality of Peel. The city borders Toronto (Etobicoke) to the east, Brampton to the north, Milton to the northwest, and Oakville to the southwest.
As of the 2021 census, Mississauga had a population of 717,961, making it the seventh-most populous municipality in Canada and the third-most populous in Ontario. It ranks as the second-most populous city in the Greater Toronto Area after Toronto. Notably, the 2021 census recorded a 0.5 per cent population decrease from the 2016 figure of 721,599, marking the first such decline in the city's history.
