Barrie is a city situated in Central Ontario, Canada. It is located approximately 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Toronto along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay.
Geographically, the city lies within Simcoe County; however, it functions as a single-tier municipality. This status means that Barrie is politically independent from the surrounding county government.
