Moncton is the most populous city in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Located in the Petitcodiac River Valley, it sits at the geographic center of the Maritime Provinces. The city covers a land area of 140.67 square kilometres (54.31 sq mi).
The city is known by the nickname "Hub City" due to its central inland location and its historical role as a primary railway and land transportation hub for the Maritimes. As of the 2025 Statistics Canada estimates, Moncton had a population of 102,378, marking the first time a city in New Brunswick exceeded 100,000 residents. Its metropolitan population reached 196,143 in 2025, making it one of the fastest-growing census metropolitan areas in Canada.
