Guildford

Guildford is a town located in west Surrey, England, situated approximately 27 miles (43 km) southwest of central London. It serves as the seat of the wider Borough of Guildford, which had an estimated population of around 151,359 inhabitants in 2024. As of the 2011 census, the town itself had a population of about 77,000.

The name Guildford is thought to derive from a crossing of the River Wey, which is a tributary of the River Thames that flows through the town centre.
