Medicine Hat is a city located in southeast Alberta, Canada. Situated along the South Saskatchewan River, it lies west of the Saskatchewan border at a distance of approximately 169 kilometres east of Lethbridge and 295 kilometres southeast of Calgary. The city, along with the adjacent Town of Redcliff to its northwest, is situated within Cypress County.

In 2021, Medicine Hat was ranked as the eighth-largest city in Alberta, with a recorded population of 63,271. The region is notably recognized by Environment and Climate Change Canada as the sunniest place in the country, averaging 2,544 hours of sunshine annually.
