Mushu is a fictional character from Disney's Mulan franchise. He first appeared in the 1998 animated film Mulan and later appeared in the sequel, Mulan II.
Characterized as a small Chinese dragon, Mushu served as a spiritual guardian of Mulan's family until he was demoted for failing to protect an ancestor. In the first film, he seeks redemption by ensuring Mulan's safety and success while she serves in the army in her father's place. He eventually becomes her best friend, though in the sequel, he attempts to sabotage her marriage to maintain his role as her guardian.
