Maunatlala is a settlement located in the Central District of Botswana. Categorized as a tertiary settlement III by the National Settlement Policy, the village covers an area of approximately 1302 hectares and had a population of 4,951 according to the 2011 census. It is situated about 88 km east of Palapye and lies within tribal land under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ngwato Land Board through the Maunatlala Subordinate Land Board.
The village is notable for its strategic location, providing easy connectivity to South Africa as it sits only 30 km from the border. It also serves as the site of the Lotsane Dam. Historically, the area is home to the Babirwa baga Maunatlala people, who migrated from South Africa and settled in Botswana following various tribal conflicts and historical relocations.
