Olinda is a historic city located in the Pernambuco region of Northeast Brazil. Situated on the northeastern Atlantic Ocean coast, it lies within the Metropolitan Region of Recife, which serves as the state capital. The city covers an area of 41.681 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 349,976 people.

The city is recognized as one of the best-preserved colonial cities in Brazil. It has been inhabited since 1535 and maintains a high population density of 9,437 inhabitants per square kilometre.
