Caruaru

Caruaru is a Brazilian municipality located in the state of Pernambuco within the Northeast region of the country. Situated approximately 130 kilometres west of the state capital, Recife, it is part of the Caruaru Intermediate Geographic Region.

The municipality covers an area of 923.150 square kilometres, with 59.51 square kilometres designated as urban territory. According to the 2025 census, Caruaru has a population of 405,408 inhabitants. This makes it the second most populous municipality in the interior of Pernambuco and the fourth most populous in the Northeast countryside, trailing only Feira de Santana, Campina Grande, and Petrolina.
