Jataí is a municipality located in the southern region of the Brazilian state of Goiás. As of recent records, the city has a population of 105,729 and covers a total land area of 7,174.2 km² (approximately 2,770.0 sq mi). In the year 2000, it was ranked as the sixth largest municipality in the state by land area.

The region is characterized by significant agricultural production. Jataí is a major producer of soybeans, rice, and corn. Additionally, the municipality holds the largest herd of cattle in the state of Goiás and serves as a large-scale producer of poultry and swine.
