Sorocaba is a municipality located in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It serves as a significant urban center with a population exceeding 723,000 inhabitants, making it the seventh-largest city within the state.
The city holds the distinction of being the second-largest municipality outside of the Greater São Paulo region, surpassed only by Campinas. Sorocaba serves as the core of its own Metropolitan Region, which encompasses 27 municipalities and a total population of approximately 2 million people, ranking it as the 15th most populous metropolitan area in Brazil.
