São Carlos is a Brazilian city and municipality located in the interior of the state of São Paulo. It is situated approximately 254 kilometers from the city of São Paulo and lies almost in the center of the state. The municipality consists of its headquarters along with the districts of Água Vermelha, Bela Vista São-Carlense, Santa Eudóxia, and Vila Nery.
With a population of 266,427 inhabitants, São Carlos ranks as the 13th largest city in the state by population. It serves as a significant regional hub within the interior geography of São Paulo.
