Morumbi is a district located in the southwestern part of São Paulo, Brazil. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Butantã subprefecture and is recognized as one of the wealthiest neighborhoods within the city.
The etymology of the name Morumbi is subject to debate; however, a common folk explanation attributes it to the phrase "morro obi," a mixture of Portuguese and Tupi words translated as "green hill." The neighborhood gained significant international attention on December 29, 2022, when Brazilian football icon Pelé passed away there at the age of 82.
