Mogi Guaçu is a municipality located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Covering an area of 813 square kilometers (314 square miles), the city has a population of 153,658 and sits at an average elevation of 591 meters (1,939 feet) above sea level.
The municipality was officially founded on April 9, 1877. Its name is believed to originate from the Tupi language and translates to "large river of snakes."
