Itapevi is a municipality situated in the western area of the São Paulo Metropolitan Region in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Located in the Southeast Region of the country, the city sits approximately 35 kilometers from the state capital of São Paulo and 1,017 kilometers from the federal capital, Brasília.
The settlement originated as a village of Cotia before developing significantly following the arrival of the Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana during the 19th century. It officially became an emancipated municipality in 1959 following a plebiscite. The city occupies a total area of 82.658 km² and had a recorded population of 232,297 inhabitants according to the 2022 Census.
