Caraguatatuba, commonly referred to by its abbreviation Caraguá, is a city located in the eastern part of the southern state of São Paulo, Brazil. It serves as the largest city on the northern shore of the state and is situated within the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Paraíba e Litoral Norte. The municipality covers an area of 485.10 km² and has a population of 123,389.
The local economy is primarily driven by tourism and agriculture. While urban areas and farmlands are concentrated along the coastline and valley regions, the northern portion of the city remains heavily forested and lacks significant road access.
